Introducing ‘Organise’ - a new web application to streamline cultural heritage survey management

Agreement Hub has released a web application named Organise, which improves time consuming processes around cultural heritage survey management for both industry and Aboriginal Corporations, estimated to cut the amount of time required to submit and manage heritage notices by half.

Organise has several key features that simplify the cultural heritage survey process, addressing many of the common challenges associated with survey management.

With Aboriginal Corporations expecting increased demand on their heritage services following the implementation of the new Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Act next month, Organise will ease the management process and increase efficiency in what can be a labour intensive undertaking.

Kellie Swanson-Hill, Founder and Director of Agreement Hub said, “While our clients are predominantly industry and land users, over the past year we have assisted the Nyamal Aboriginal Corporation to build a sustainable heritage business. This work highlighted to us how unnecessarily clunky and time consuming the heritage survey management process was for all parties involved. I developed this web based application and provided it free of charge to Nyamal who have trialled it in field for us. After a successful test period we are now able to offer it to other Aboriginal Corporations for a small fee which covers the costs involved to tailor it to their specific circumstances.

“This has been a labour of love and is my way of  giving back to an industry I am passionate about and have worked in for more than two decades.”

Benefits for Industry

Organise is your front door for submitting heritage survey requests quicky and securely. You’ll complete a simple questionnaire that adapts to your answers in real time. In one place you can monitor the status of requests, review completed heritage submissions, and store relevant documents for future use. This streamlined process means no more time wasted on follow up emails and telephone calls to track progress, query delays, or search for documentation.

We estimate that Organise will significantly reduce the time required to submit and manage heritage notices, potentially halving the current workload from an average of one full day per survey request (from preparation, to submission and ongoing management) to three hours or less.

Benefits for Aboriginal Corporations

For Aboriginal Corporations, Organise centralises all heritage notices in one place, allowing the heritage management staff to quickly review and assess the status of all survey requests in one place. By using an invite-only link, Aboriginal Corporations can easily track who is making submissions and take back control over how industry engages with the Corporation, fostering better communication and collaboration.

The improved efficiency will save heritage management staff at least an hour per day for each active survey request, in an environment where they can be juggling multiple surveys at any one time.

Barry Taylor, Heritage Manager at Nyamal Aboriginal Corporation described the adoption of Organise into their heritage business as “revolutionary” in how it has improved their ability to protect culture, heritage, and the beautiful Nyamal country.

“I would like to thank Agreement Hub for developing Organise which supports my role as Heritage Manager. I expect this app to help not just the Nyamal people but all Aboriginal groups around Australia working to look after country and culture.”
